April 2: Night of Love

Many years ago on this night, Jesus sat down to the most famous meal of all time: The Last Supper. This wasn't an ordinary event. It was already a holiday feast, but it became a new holiday, a night of love.

First, Jesus sat and washed the disciples' feet. His eagerness to do this showed his desire to serve, no matter the consequences. Their willingness to have their feet washed also demonstrated their willingness to let Jesus into the darkest parts of their lives.

Then, Jesus broke bread and shared wine for them to continue to remember Him and all He has lived (and died) for.

Finally, He spoke to them. He announced that one of them was the traitor. And to another, He predicted the abandonment that would come in times of trial.

Each of us are at that table. We have been offered bread and wine. We have been offered to be cleansed, to let Jesus into our dirtiest places. We have been declared the traitor and the abandoner, but despite this, tomorrow, He will still hang on the cross, suffer, and die... for us. For you. For me.
