Tonight, I was at Camp Xtreme, as a high school mentor to the rising 6th graders who are the campers. Our youth leader, Jason, was sharing with them the basic principle of Christianity, how Jesus was sacrificed for us, and to do so, he used donuts. It was a great analogy, and I'd like to share it with you.
He first offered everyone a nice Krispy Kreme donut, and he selected a high school boy to be the first one to receive a donut. This boy goes up, and Jason announces that each donut will cost 5 push ups. The boy agrees, does his five push ups, receives his donut, and begins to return to his seat, when Jason clarifies that each donut the 6th graders take will cost this one boy five more push ups (which is not the expected five push ups to the person who takes a donut). Do you see the comparison, yet?
Jesus did the five push ups for the donut God has given us. He did five push ups for each of us, even those of us who didn't take our donut, and those who don't know they're being offered a donut, and those who snatch the donut from Him. We all get the donut. The price has been paid.
