January 15: Empty

Yes, that is an empty square. Many people see emptiness as something to throw away, something that is useless, but emptiness is a treasure. An empty minute, an empty mind, and even an empty stomach provide space for something new, something fresh. Today, I had an unexpected change in schedule and found an extra thirty minutes before school. It was a crisp morning with a little fog, and it was empty. My options were endless; I could fill it with whatever I pleased. The same goes for my heart. When it is full of the things I've placed in it, there is no room for the things God wants to place inside me. The emptier I am, the more space he has. Let's strive to be empty.
