July 3: Fallen from the Tree

I found this leaf. A few days ago, it lived in a nice tree where its entire surface received bright sunlight for most of the day making it a beautiful yellow with green spots. A storm blew through, and it got swept from the tree, and it landed on the ground where only half of its surface could reach the sunlight. The other half, the part left in the shade, turned brown and crumpled, dying. Pretty soon, the leaf would not be able to sustain itself and the entire thing would shrivel.

Right now, you may be attached to the tree of life, God's tree, but be sure that your roots are firmly bound to it, or you may also be blown from the tree in midst of the storms of life. To receive eternal nourishment and growth, we must not separate ourselves from the tree. (Fortunately, though, our tree can reach back out for us when we to it
call for help.)
